School Performance

It is important that leaders and teachers are aware of how well pupils are progressing both on a day to day basis through the use of formative assessment and at key identified points during the academic year through the use of summative assessment.

On a day to day basis staff use formative assessment by completing observations, tracker sheets and capturing using Evidence for Learning to capture learning which has taken place.

Once a term we will use summative assessment in our context, this typically involves evaluating the extent to which pupils have achieved objectives within the curriculum or met their own personal targets. Summative assessment activities support recording and reporting on pupil progress, and the insights gained are used to inform future planning for individuals and cohorts of pupils.

On a termly basis after pupil progress meetings a data report will be written to evaluate the progress of the school and classes in specific areas. This information is then cascaded to governors and teachers to help inform priority actions.

At the end of an academic year a standards and progress report is written using information obtained from the termly data reports and is used to evaluate the impact of teaching across the year and is one method used to support developing future priorities.
