Thursday 14 November 2024 Remembrance Day Upper School and Lower Middle School held department assemblies acknowledging Remembrance Day. Each department made their own poppies, held a 2 minute silence and welcomed Jack, a student from St Columbus School, who played the bugle to recognise the event.

Friday 8 November 2024 STEM Theme Day Pupils had a fantastic STEM (science, maths engineering and technology) day! It was a brilliant day where pupils had lots of fun, learnt new concepts and created memorable learning experiences with their peers.

Thursday 24 October 2024 Thank you from the St Albans & District Foodbank We'd like to thank everyone from Watling View School for supporting us this Harvest. Your generous donation of 105.5kg alone will allow us to provide 251 meals for people and families in need and we are incredibly grateful for your contribution. We can't do what we do and continue to help so many without the support we receive from organisations such as yours - so thank you for your continued support.

Tuesday 22 October 2024 Careers Theme Day It was lovely to see the pupils come in dressed up as a job someone special does. They took part in various activities in class to learn about different jobs related to people who help us. In the hall there was a careers fair and pupils got to learn about being a builder, hairdresser and café worker. They styled hair on dolls heads, dressed up as builders and used the bricks to construct things, explored different smells from a café and practised being a cashier using the till. In the afternoon we had a visit from the fire service who brought the fire engine onto the playground. They showed us the different equipment on the fire engine and some pupils got to have fun spraying water from the hose.

Tuesday 15 October 2024 Snow White Performance Pupils had a wonderful time watching a performance of Snow White on Tuesday 15th October. There was lots of laughter throughout & pupils really enjoyed clapping along to the music. At the end of the performance, pupils were then invited up to the front to dance with their friends!

Monday 23 September 2024 McMillan Coffee Morning We held our McMillan Coffee Morning on Monday 23rd September, where some of our Upper School pupils enjoyed serving cakes to their peers in the school gym.

Thursday 18 July 2024 Celebration Days On Tuesday 9th and Wednesday 10th July we held our Celebration Days in school. Thank you to all of the parents and carers who were able to join us in celebrating.

Thursday 4 July 2024 Year 14 Leavers Ceremony On Thursday 14th July, we celebrated our leavers: Rosie, Francesco, James, Jessie, Elliott, Beth, David & Sam.

Thursday 4 July 2024 Wimbledon Trip Pupils had a fabulous time at Wimbledon, we got to watch a couple of games on court - 2 Fils vs Hurkacz and Monfils vs Wawrinka. Both were great games! We had a lovely walk around the grounds up to Court 1 and enjoyed eating some strawberries and cream. All the students really enjoyed themselves!

Wednesday 3 July 2024 Whole School Trip to Thomley The whole school went on a trip to Thomley! There was a rotation of exciting activities which catered for all, including: bouncing on the jumping pillow, using the zip wire, exploring the lights in the sensory room, climbing in soft play, relaxing in the teenage den, playing football and more! It was a hot day filled with lots of fun and smiles.

Monday 1 July 2024 Olympics Week This week pupils have been taking part in a school wide special event called Watling View Olympics Week. Each class is representing a country for the week, and different pupils have been sent to participate in different sports throughout the week to represent their country. We’ve had an action packed schedule of events including running, cycling, swimming, trampoline, climbing, curling, boccia, yoga, skittles, triathlon, weightlifting and basketball. There are more events to come, and we’re building up a medal ceremony on Friday to celebrate pupil achievements!

Monday 24 June 2024 Theatre Performance On Monday the students enjoyed a fantastic performance of The Selfish Giant. Some of the students even got to participate in the show. We would like to say a massive thank you to Happy Days charity who funded this for us! The children had a fantastic time watching and taking part in the show!

Thursday 20 June 2024 Eid Theme Day On Tuesday 18th June we held an Eid al-Adha Theme Day. Pupils attended assemblies to learn about the festival, then enjoyed Eid themed activities during the morning, including Henna tattoos. In the afternoon we had a whole school party in the playground, with music, dancing and food. Lots of fun was had by all!

Tuesday 11 June 2024 Sport Experience Day A group of pupils from Lower / Middle School enjoyed a trip to experience a number of different sporting activities thanks to the President's Sports Club. The group enjoyed tennis, basketball, boccia a trip on a train and the bouncy castle.

Tuesday 11 June 2024 Upper School Residential Students from Upper school went on a residential trip for two nights to Skeet House in Kent.

Friday 7 June 2024 Lower / Middle School Boat Trip A group of 25 pupils from Lower / Middle School experienced a canal boat trip thanks to Waterways. The pupils enjoyed going on the canal, taking turns to drive the canal boat and open and close locks. As well as this the pupils enjoyed commenting about what they saw using their communication boards.

Sunday 19 May 2024 Basketball Playoff Finals at the O2 Arena On Sunday 19th May a group of pupils visited the O2 Arena in London to watch the Basketball Playoff final. We saw London Lions beat Cheshire Phoenix in a very close game. All the pupils really enjoyed the atmosphere.

Thursday 16 May 2024 Sports Day On Thursday 16th May we held our annual sports day. Although it was a damp start to the day the sun did come out a little bit as the morning went on. All pupils enjoyed moving around the different stations demonstrating their ability to complete a variety of sporting activities throughout the morning. It was wonderful to be joined by so many families for the morning and picnic. A big thank you to the sports leaders from Samuel Ryder who supported the event as well.
