Creative Arts
At Watling View we recognise that Creative Arts for pupils is an opportunity to learn and develop both creative skills and support the all round development of an individual. We know that music can play a role in brain development and support to develop motor skills, collaboration skills and communication skills.
Classes throughout the school have Creative Arts Lessons where they cover a breadth of creative learning opportunities linked to the half termly theme.
As well has having opportunities through planned curriculum lessons, we feel it is important to expose pupils to a variety of creative opportunities through having visiting companies and musicians visiting school to perform for pupils and provide pupils to visit different external creative opportunities. Experiences pupils have received include visiting theatre companies, musicians performing as part of theme days, pupils performing to an audience as part of Christmas and Spring performances and some pupils performing at a theatre for Shakespeare for Schools.
